Pros
Also working flawlessly with 4x8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 3200MHz in XMP profile
Nothing negative for a board that was purchased for £70 new from Amazon, came with the latest v2008 BIOS
The cpu Boosts to 4.2 during gaming and holds this perfectly fine on 3Dmark Timespy stress test (loop of 20 timespy test) - please note my case is very well ventilated with 2x140mm intake fans 1x120 and 1x140 exhaust
I am not sure how the VRM performs temperature wise, but as long as 6 core 3600 can boost just fine i trust this should work with god airflow.
One thing to mention is the 8PIN CPU power socket is at the very top of the motherboard and this forced me to modify a phanteks 140mm fan that i intended to install at the back top of Phanteks P350X case, without the mod i would only be able to install 120mm fan - so the conclusion is - watch out with how much clearance you have in your case at the top if you want to fit 140mm fans/AIO with this mobo ( some other asus mobos have the same design )
Cons
To begin with, the manual provided with this motherboard is very flimsy and you need to printout the one on the CD in order to work out some of the finer details. Anyhow, that when the problems start.
Firstly, unless you get the right CPU, despite what it looks like, there's no on-board graphics, so you need to make sure you get the right CPU with on-board graphics on the chip. Then, you need to be particularly careful to ensure you plug the fan into the correct socket - easy to confuse with the adjacent RGB Header. I got both the graphics and the fan wrong and ASUS blamed the board and I had to send it back. Needless to say, the replacement had the same problems at which point they finally gave me the correct advice.
I also have a USB3.0 expansion card that I wanted to install. Quite straightforward, but not for this board - apparently not compatible. Well I suppose I can live with that.
Finally the memory - oh I wish I could forget the memory. The ones suggested by Amazon, the Corsair CMK16GX4M2B30000C15 apparently are not correct so I went for the more expensive update which IS in their recommended list, the Corsair CMD16GX4M2B3000C15. Same result. I was working with 2 x 16GB. If you put in 1 DIMM, all well and good, but if you put in a second, nothing is recognised. NB I'm not doing any overclocking, so they blame that on me!
I have to say that the ASUS technical support have been trying very hard to sort out all my problems - so I don't feel totally alone, but, after 3 weeks of trying I still have no working motherboard. I will try a bit longer after which it all goes back and I'll try another manufacturer. I have built quite a few PCs in my time (remember Simply in Walthamstow and Watford Electronics) , but never had ANY of the problems this one has dreamt up - perhaps they were just to simple? Or I'm getting older?
PS - I star is not deserved, but it is the minimum!
