Costumers Product Reviews
Pros
This is a great TV for the price. It has a 10-bit MVA panel which reproduces vibrant colour with great contrast. Black level and white point are rather accurate. Backpanel uniformity is also good. The built in bias lighting ie Ambilight is excellent and not a gimmick. It reduces the perceived brightness of then display rather reducing eye fatigue while also making the scene feel more expansive due to the colour of the video frame being reproduced. This is the best bias lighting I've found and in a TV at this price it's well worth it. Other manufacturers are not allowed to include bias lights due to what I suspect are patent and licensing restrictions due to Ambilight being an original Philips product. I've always used LG or Samsung but I can safely say these TVs are very good. Better than the competition in my opinion. The speakers are not bad and the operating system ie SAPHI is functional and more responsive than last years iteration. The control is light and tactile to use. The buttons have a shallow actuation point which is nicer than the big rubber keys that tend to rock around on other remotes. It also has a microphone on the remote if you want to use Voice Commands which requires Amazon Alexa and therefore an Amazon Account. I've thrown 4K 2160p YPbPr4:4:4 HDR+ at 60Hz across a 5 meter Lindy Cromo HDMI 2.0 cable and the picture quality is excellent. Motion on this panel is good for an MVA panel and a definate improvement. Compared to a TN panel it is slow but you soon get used to it. I personally have the picture mode always set to Game because it is the fastest mode with an average input lag of 20ms. I prefer the MVA panel to IPS due to less glare and wider contrast range. Of course OLED is the best but this basically a compromise between colour reproduction, contrast and pixel response time. I suspect a few have no idea what I'm talking about. If not be content that you've bough a decent telly for the price. No negatives to note apart from the fact that Amazon sent me the wrong model ie 50PUS6704 which is last years model. I eventually ordered from elsewhere with a better experience but felt the need to leave feedback for anyone considering buying this. Thanks.
Cons
Bought this TV on recommendation of a local AV shop, Amazon have it at an incredibly competitive price, plugged it in and went through the set up process, tried to watch a 1080p source, and dear lord, the picture looks like my 2 year old drew it. Shocking. Lack of clarity, colour balance is shocking and the depth of image was very very poor.
The overall build quality is low, squeaky plastic, the screws on the feet are too big for the holes which are redrilled, or more likely cast into the body. The screws are such cheap rubbish that good luck getting them out if you do manage to get them to go in...
For the price you can get a 2019 LG nanocell if you shop around a little. Do that.
Oh, and dont buy this expecting a good array of apps for video streaming. Especially not if you have kids. No Disney+ was the nail in the coffin for this TV. Extremely disappointing.
