Costumers Product Reviews
Pros
This review is for the gigantic 82 inch version. i have owned numerous samsung tv's as well as god awful sony's, so-so lg's and a few others. samsung wins time and time again for a few reasons.
let's start with the setup, you don't actually need to do much with the tv, you install the samsung smart things app on your phone and it does everything from wifi setup, software update, loading your saved channels and preferences from your own tv - everything, it's so easy.
plug in the ARC hdmi and i was up and running. this tv is HUGE and the picture quality is amazing. worth taking a few minutes to set it to your liking though as everything is set to auto which is fine but it's better if you turn some of the anti flicker and judder enhancements as i suspect many will use this for prime video and other online tv and it really helps the picture quality.
it's also great because it remembers what you were watching last time so no need to login again.
it also comes with two remotes which i found weird but a nice surprise. one is the standard generic samsung remote you find on all tv's but it also comes with the samsung "one" bluetooth remote which takes some getting used to but is way easier to use once you get the basics figured out.
i can't comment on the sound quality as i have an external amplifier setup but i can confirm the atmos sound from a good source is epic.
i was thinking about qled but since 90% of my source is from online tv and movies, qled makes no difference to this source, only dvd's so i thought i'd save the £500 and get a non qled one - and after comparing online tv on this to the 65 inch qled in the bedroom, there is literally no difference. the blacks on this tv are amazing as is the hdr brightness.I really want to find one fault or word of caution for people about this tv but i really cannot.
Cons
It keeps pushing Samsung TV+ on me as an ad in my home menu. I don't have to click it, but it's there. Also it starts playing random stuff (mostly Rakuten TV ads) if you start your TV but don't do anything for a while. It is unacceptable for a paid product, so do not buy if you are as easily annoyed as I am. I found a picture online that shows the ad that can't be removed; see it attached at the end. You may work around it by deleting the channels associated with it via the channel list, but the add will still show. Alternatively you may run a network adblocker (Pi Hole) if your are more tech savvy, which got rid of the nuisance for me. After disabling most of the image processing or tuning it down, and getting rid of the ad I mentioned earlier, it makes for a decent TV. It came with two remotes: your standard Samsung bunch of buttons, and a "smart" remote with basic functions and voice command. On both you can find dedicated buttons for Netflix, Prime and Rakuten TV. I wish you could reassign the Rakuten TV button to open YouTube as I don't use Rakuten personally, but you can't and you have to go through the menus. You can rearrange the home menu to show your most wanted apps, and hide the unwanted ones, or even block them with parental control as an half-baked alternative to actually deleting them, which is impossible. You may download other apps from the Samsung app store but the selection is not as great as it would be on an Android TV. It comes with a bunch of apps preinstalled that you are not allowed to remove; most of them are useless, and some of them are your standard streaming services that you likely use. Netflix Prime Video YouTube Rakuten TV Google Assistant Alexa Bixby (obviously) Now TV ITV Hub Apple TV Apple Music All 4 UKTV Play Samsung Health Samsung Browser Britbox My5 BBC iPlayer BBC Sounds TikTok e-Manual On the bright side, delivery was a few days early in my case.
