Pros

Canon EOS 2000D Body Only

Along with the Canon EOS 4000D, they term this a good ‘entry level’ camera for budding photographers who want to enter the DSLR age.

My previous (non-digital) SLR was also a Canon, an EOS rebel, which served me very well, but I stopped using it because the rigmarole of buying film rolls and then having to sending them off to be developed without knowing if I’d even taken any good photos was becoming a chore, and expensive.

I invested in a Canon digital PowerShot A560 as backup and, although simple, it proved to be a very neat little gizmo. So I’m happy with the Canon brand, and no, they ain’t paying me to write that!

I opted for the 2000D over the 4000D because it has 24.1 megapixels as opposed to 18, and a larger LCD screen (3.0 as opposed to 2.7). Also, the lens mounting ring is metal, rather than plastic, so I figured it would be a wee more robust. A tad more expensive, admittedly, but not by a huge amount, and I figure it's worth paying the extra if you can afford it.

I did a bit of checking first, though. I contacted Canon to see if the lenses I used with my non-digital Rebel (Canon EF 35-80mm 1:4-5.6 III and Canon EF 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 II) ) would work with this digital model. The good news is they do. So all I needed was the body. Result..!

So far so good.

However, a couple of tips to follow.

The manual that comes with the camera (in 26 languages - so only 20 pages per language) is, frankly, a complete waste of a tree. I also found the Canon site a bit of a nightmare to navigate and not that helpful when I did chance upon what I was looking for, so I ended up hunting around for more user-friendly info.

I found three great You Tube vids that cover all the topics a complete beginner or someone with only a rudimentary knowledge of photography will need to get started with this camera.

1) Best Canon EOS 2000D | Rebel T7 Basic Settings video | How to set up your Canon

This is a tutorial designed specifically for the 2000D by CameraWize Photography and covers the basic camera functions – from unboxing to explaining the various menus and settings.

2) Canon T3/T5/T6 & 1100D/1200D/1300D Overview Tutorial

Do not let the title of the video put you off. The 2000D is, in effect, a replacement for the 1300D, so the camera controls are identical. What you get is a terrific 50 mins tutorial by Tony Northrup. The comments below the video speak for themselves.

3) Connect your Canon EOS 1300D to your Android phone via Wi-Fi

Again, it states it’s for the EOS 1300D, but the instructions also apply to the 2000D. This video explains very simply how to connect the camera via wifi not only to your smart phone but also to your tablet. (I have a Kindle Fire 8HD).

Back to the camera kit. The box doesn’t include a cable to connect the camera to your computer to allow you to download images that way but the cables are only around a fiver, so they're not expensive. Fortunately for yours truly, I used the cable provided with my small PowerShot, which worked just fine.

I’d also suggest you invest in a screen protector. They're only a couple of quid and so they won’t break the bank.

Happy snapping…!

Cons

I was very pleased with the speed and efficiency of delivery.

But completely disappointed, I came home after a long day of work and went to open my new acquisition, but I realize that in the upper left corner of the screen there is a considerable WELL Risk.

now being late I can't contact support.

I am doing this review to register because I want to change the product.

Disappointed
